I can’t decide between three phones: the A55, S20+ 5G, and a renewed S20 Ultra. What does everyone think is the best choice?
A55 has new software and a warranty. I’d pick the A55. When you buy a refurbished or used phone, it can be a gamble.
Go for the A55. It comes with newer software and warranty. If you can, consider the S23 or S24 base model.
Definitely the A55.
The S20 series won’t get more updates from Samsung.
A55 is the way to go.
S20 series has stopped getting updates.

That’s strange, I have an S20+ 5G and just received an update last week.

What Android version do you have now?
@Charlie
Maybe it was just a security patch. My old S9 got those until March 2022, but it only had Android 10.
If you can, go for a used S24. It has six years of updates left.
Buy an S22 or S23 base model. For a new one, you’ll need a bigger budget. But you can find it second hand for less than the A55.
Seriously, go with the A55.
Check out the Xiaomi 13T, or the 14T if you can afford it. They have much better hardware, especially the camera and display, plus they respect warranty agreements.
The S20 might be more powerful than the A55, but I’d choose the A55 for the newer updates and OneUI.
The S20 feels too old for me. At this price, I’d think about a refurbished S22 Ultra or something similar, but I’m not sure how prices are where you are.
Better to buy a second-hand S22 variant than a new A55.
A55 is the only choice. The S20 series won’t get the same support, and with the A55, you get everything new. Plus, it supports Galaxy AI and is more power efficient.
How about an iPhone?
If you can, spend a bit more and consider an S21 FE, S21 Ultra, or S22 Ultra.
