Which is better S21 or S22? Thoughts?

If you’ve used either of these phones, what are your thoughts? How does the battery hold up after 2 years? How about temperature and performance? Which one stands out in certain areas but fails in others? And are any of the rumors about these devices true?

My S21 Ultra still works great and the battery is almost as good as new.

A couple of apps I use seem to be slowing down a little, but other than that, everything is fine.

Seeing people complain about their newer phones makes me feel good about sticking with mine for a bit longer.

I used to upgrade every 2 years, but now I’m approaching 4 years with this phone, and I still don’t feel the need to change.

S21.
Overall, it performs better and has better battery life. It also doesn’t heat up as quickly as the S22. The only noticeable difference would be the minor improvements in the screen or display of the S22, I guess.

My S21 5G is still a solid phone. I upgraded to a used S22 Ultra with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage because I wanted a little better performance and more memory.

The S21 5G has terrible battery life. Don’t get it.

I had the same issue.

The S21 Ultra was my first Samsung phone and its battery was amazing. I tried the S22, S23, and now the S24 Ultra, but none of them have come close. From what I’ve read on this forum, I think it was the chip in the S21, so I’ll be looking to buy the next Snapdragon chip.

@Tory
Yeah, maybe mine has the Exynos chip, I’m not sure.

S22 Plus. Battery is terrible.

I’m getting 6+ hours of screen on time with my S22.

Still, I probably need 9 hours to make it through the day.

I’ve heard bad things about the S22 battery.

S21!!!

I was using an S21 because my Fold 4 had broken twice. After the second repair, I didn’t want to use it anymore, so I gave it to my dad and got his S22. The S22 has been a nightmare. It starts off fine, but over time it gets slow and overheats. I switched back to the S21 after resetting the S22 multiple times. Also, the 128GB S21 Ultra has more RAM (12GB) than the 128GB S22 (8GB).

S21+. It’s a good phone overall, but the Android Auto connection is bad, both wired and wireless.

The S21 is great. There are some OS hiccups, but it’s a strong and beautiful device.

S21 Ultra, still working well after over 3 years. I don’t like how some updates have removed camera functionality, though.

I’ve had the S22 Ultra since launch. The cameras are still great compared to other phones. The performance is decent, though there was some heating at first, but updates have fixed that. The only downside is that the battery doesn’t last as long now, considering it’s already been 2 years.

S23 or S21.

21+.

Just no. Please don’t get one.

For the Exynos 2100 model:

• You’ll get terrible battery life, at best 3 hours of screen on time if you’re not in Airplane Mode.

• One UI will crash every now and then, and if you use Goodlock, it resets every 2-3 updates.

• The camera is awful past 3x zoom.

• It overheats and lags if you record at 1080p60 for more than 10 minutes, or even 1080p120 for 5 minutes.

Season 21 was better than season 22.

The S22 battery was really bad. Drained quickly for me.

Both the S21 and S22 have battery issues. My friend even sold her S21 because of it.

Try getting the Plus or Ultra models since they have better cooling.

The S22 models are a gamble with the chipset. My S22 Plus with Exynos has been fine, and the same goes for someone else’s S22 Ultra in my household.

But note, the S21 is running out of updates.
