I anticipate that Samsung’s cameras will remain somewhat disappointing, as they have been in the last three or four phones I’ve owned. While the image quality looks fine on the phone, it’s not as impressive on my PC’s 34" monitor, especially when zooming in. The photos just lack sharpness and always have.
Although I plan to stick with Samsung for now, I expect to be let down by their cameras unless there are significant quality improvements.
I would really like to see improvements in both hardware and software for their cameras. While I’ve never owned a Samsung phone, I generally appreciate Samsung’s hardware and would consider switching if the photo and video quality improved. Given their high megapixel counts, I believe they would benefit more from enhancements like a larger sensor rather than just increasing the megapixels, although an increase would always be welcome.
They continue to use the same small sensors and inflate the megapixel count on paper each year with minimal improvements. That’s why I currently own the X100 Ultra.
Camera technology has already reached its peak, so to improve, they need to either increase the number and size of the lenses and the sensor or concentrate entirely on software enhancements.
