Switched from iPhone 13 to S24 ultra Day 1 impressions

Hi all,

I’ve recently switched from my iPhone 13 to the S24 Ultra, and here are my thoughts.

The screen is stunning; the 120Hz refresh rate is essential, making 60Hz feel outdated. In terms of system fluidity and response, it’s superior to iOS, although I’ll see how this holds up with more use. Animations on iOS have a slight edge, but it’s not a significant difference.

When it comes to the keyboard, Android excels in word suggestions and feedback, and the clipboard feature is fantastic. I can’t imagine going back to iOS, though I find space bar navigation a bit slow. As for performance, it matches any flagship device on the market, so no complaints there.

The network speed is definitely better than the iPhone 13, and the speakers provide improved sound quality as well. However, I find the AI features mostly useless for my needs. The S Pen has been very helpful during my rounds as a doctor, and I don’t find the size or weight of the device to be an issue.

Android has made significant strides over the past three years, particularly when compared to my previous mid-range devices. The back gesture is especially comforting; I felt cramped without it. As for battery life, I’ll provide an update in a few days.

Compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the S24 Ultra feels like the better choice overall. I’d suggest going for whichever is cheaper after discounts or trade-ins. The cameras have no complaints from me, as I’m not too concerned about video quality. The haptics are on par with other devices, and while I won’t be using Good Lock for now, it seems interesting, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

You can access developer mode and turn your animations down to 0.5 and it will feel a lot more snappy.

Navigating with the keyboard cursor is definitely slow. However, Android excels at placing the cursor exactly where you tap in your text.

That’s great! I switched from Samsung last November when I got the 15 Pro Max, and now I can’t wait to return to a Galaxy. I really dislike iPhones and I’m eagerly awaiting the S25 Ultra.
