I’ve been using iPhones for years, and the last Android I had was the Galaxy S7 Edge. I’m thinking about trading in my iPhone 13 next week and am looking into the S24 Ultra. I’d like to hear from people who’ve used it. What’s your experience like?
What’s important to you in a phone?

I take a lot of pictures and videos of friends, family, and pets, so I want a phone with a good camera and storage. Battery life is also a must since I use my phone for work all the time. I’m rough with my phones, so I need something durable (with a case, of course). My current iPhone’s camera lens cover finally broke off after a lot of wear, but otherwise, it’s still intact.
I like my iPhone, but I’m tired of iOS. It’s getting slower and crashes more often. Every new iPhone feels the same. I figure if I’m upgrading, I might as well try something different.

You’re looking for a powerhouse, and the S24 Ultra fits the bill. Just a heads-up: it’s on the bulky side. If you don’t need to switch immediately, waiting for the S25 Ultra might be worth it. It’s coming in mid-January, so if you can hold off, the S24 might also get cheaper by then because of promotions.
@Kai
How’s the longevity on these phones? I don’t want it breaking down before it’s paid off. My S7 Edge crashed with a blue screen right before I finished paying for it, and it was unusable after that.
@Frost
The S24 Ultra will last years. You’re comparing an old S7 Edge to a modern flagship. This one should easily get you 4+ years of solid use. Plus, it has 7 years of OS updates, starting with Android 14 and ending with Android 21.
@Kai
That sounds more like a hardware issue than software. That kind of thing can happen to any phone, though.

I’m still using my Galaxy S10 Plus. I’ve replaced the battery twice myself because I’m a heavy user, especially for gaming. If you keep up with basic maintenance, like swapping the battery when needed, these phones last. I’ve also never had screen burn, and it’s been running great. If you like tinkering, Samsung gives you options.
@Skyler
How’s your screen-on time after replacing the battery?

I get 8 to 10 hours now, depending on the apps or games I’m running.

That’s impressive. My S10 Plus battery is at 71% health, so I’m planning to replace it soon.

Samsung phones are still great, but they’re becoming more like iPhones in some ways. If you like customizing your phone and having control over your files, Android is the way to go. I use emulators for gaming on my phone, which is way better than mobile games, in my opinion.
I switched from the iPhone 14 Pro Max to the S24 Ultra mostly for the flat screen. It looks amazing, and I’m really happy with it.
I got the S24 Ultra last week during the Black Friday sale, and I’d totally recommend it.
Why not? Try something different for a change.
My wife is an Apple person and just got the iPhone 16 Pro Max. After using my S24 Ultra, she regrets not getting one herself. Based on what you’re looking for, you’ll love it.
The S25 series is just weeks away. Maybe hold off?
Don’t get it. The S25 Ultra comes out in a couple of months. Why settle for a generation behind?

Do you think the price difference will be big between the two once the S25 launches?
It depends on what you need, but I got mine and absolutely love it.
