Hey everyone, I currently have the S22U and honestly, it’s getting pretty slow and laggy. It stutters a lot when taking photos and even after clearing the cache or freeing up RAM, it doesn’t feel like the powerhouse it once was. I was originally planning to wait for the S25U, but now there’s this awesome Black Friday deal for the S24U for less than $1000. What do you think I should do? Should I wait for the S25U or grab the S24U now? Any advice would be great, thanks!
You should try a factory reset… it could help clear up some of the lag unless you just want to upgrade to the new phone. I had the S22U and traded it for the S24U. Both are amazing, but the S24U has the AI features and a bit of a boost in performance. Honestly, the S22U still feels like 90% of what the S24U offers. It’s not a huge leap.

Factory reset sounds like a pain lol. I’m just itching to upgrade to something newer.

I had the S20 FE, and was ready to upgrade but didn’t save enough. Bought it from T-Mobile and it wasn’t worth it. I didn’t know you could get an unlocked version to switch carriers.
@Juno
Yeah, I always buy unlocked directly from Samsung. It’s the best way to go.

Samsung’s website gives you more discounts if you pick an exclusive color, but they also charge like $269 for two years of protection. In Best Buy, it’s only $179 for two years of protection. Not sure if it’ll go even lower for Black Friday though.

Then why even ask? Looks like you’ve already made up your mind. Just go ahead and enjoy the S24U. Seems like you’re wasting time asking for advice if you’re not open to it.
@Rory
No, your answer helped. Chill out.
I switched from the S22U to the S24U and never looked back. The S22U wasn’t great, but the S24U is a beast. I got it for about €1059 with my student discount. The S25U will likely have a rounder design (which I don’t like) and a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, but it’s rumored that the new chip might eat up more battery. Samsung may not bump up the battery size, though. If you find the S24U for $900, go for it. The S25U will probably be $1400-1500, so that’s a big difference. The S24U has no major issues and handles everything you throw at it. Plus, you won’t lose much if you decide to upgrade to the S25U later. Just look at how the S23U is still going for around $700!
@Val
Yeah, I’m with you. That round design sounds like a miss for me. The S24U’s design with its sharp edges and titanium is just perfect. Feels bold and strong.
If you do a factory reset on your phone, it’ll be 98% as good as new.
Why buy the phone at all? The battery is only 4000 mAh, which is less than other phones. For the price we’re paying, Samsung should’ve given us a bigger battery.
I wish I had these kinds of problems. I’m still stuck with my S21U.
I’d wait for the S25U. The new chip is supposed to be a real powerhouse!

How much better will it really be compared to the S24U?

It’ll be amazing! A lot of reviewers, like Dave2d, have talked about how much more powerful and efficient the new chip is. Especially if you plan on keeping the phone for a while.
