Peer-pressured into getting an iPhone

Hey everyone,
I think you can understand my perspective. I’m in college, and I’ve noticed that around 90% or more of my peers have iPhones.

I’m starting to feel out of place. Whenever I need something from a fellow student, they always ask if I have AirDrop. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 base model, and I’m beginning to feel pressured to conform.

However, I want to resist that urge, so please share the best features of your Samsung devices and how you use them, like APKs and other tips. I don’t want to keep supporting the idea that iPhones are better when Samsung has its own excellent features that are just as good or even better.

Are you from the USA? If so, Apple has designed everything to function that way. In other countries, people use third-party apps like WhatsApp and WeChat, allowing them to send pictures and make calls across different platforms without any issues.

While this isn’t AirDrop, RCS is being rolled out, so if they have your number and are on iOS 18, they can send you full-quality images and files. Just ensure you’re using Google Messages.

There’s not much you can do; many people get an iPhone just to avoid feeling left out, and Apple does this effectively.

It’s up to you whether you want to be a force of resistance and stand your ground or not. I don’t judge either way, but if my friends aren’t willing to install WhatsApp or any other third-party multiplatform chat or file-sharing service, then I don’t need them in my life.
