Is the Samsung S24 Ultra just too big?

I just got this new phone, and while it’s super cool, it’s really hard to hold. For context, I’m a 15-year-old girl with small hands.

I read somewhere that phones are designed more for men, and I can totally believe it because why does it take two hands to hold my phone?

I used to have a Pixel 6a, and I loved how slim and easy it was to handle. I think I might get used to the Samsung eventually, but for now, I had to switch back because it’s just not convenient.

The pen is amazing, though, and I just bought my first concert ticket, so the zoom feature is going to be really helpful. I just wish it wasn’t so big!

Wait, the Pixel 6a is actually wider than the S24. Could it be the case you’re using?

Do you mean the Ultra version maybe?

Oh, you’re right—I meant the S24 Ultra. Sorry, I get confused with these names. Also, the case I got does make it bulkier.

@Hayden
Ah, makes sense. The Ultra is the largest model. If it’s an option, maybe consider exchanging it for the regular S24 or even a Z Flip? They’re easier to handle.

Since you’re 15, I’d suggest the base S24. It’s smaller and still a really good phone.

By the way, they made the corners less sharp on the S25 Ultra.

Yet another reason not to bother with the 25 Ultra.

Honestly, it’s like carrying a brick around. The Ultra is expensive and massive, but it is a fantastic phone. If it were me, I’d go with the smaller base model—it’s way easier to use one-handed.

Yeah, but being bigger does make it better for watching videos. That’s the main reason I chose it.

If returning it isn’t an option, think of it as a mini tablet that can make calls. Maybe try finding a case that feels better in your hand. If switching to a smaller phone isn’t possible, you’ll probably adapt with time and figure out ways to make it work for you.

Why not hold it in one hand and use the other for typing or scrolling? If you do that, the size shouldn’t be an issue.

You bought the biggest phone you could find, and now you’re complaining it’s too big?

When phones started getting bigger, they used to call them “phablets”—a mix of phone and tablet. I remember reading that Steve Jobs thought people wouldn’t want such huge phones because they’d hate holding them!

Yeah, the S24 Ultra is definitely bigger than most phones.

I think it’s great! I’m a 50-year-old guy, and I kept mistyping on my old, narrow A53. Landscape mode was a nightmare. I’ve been using the S24 FE for two weeks now, and the slight increase in size has been a game-changer for me.

Maybe the S24 Ultra is big because it needs to work well with the pen?
