Is the S24 Ultra worth it just for the premium feel?

I currently use a OnePlus 8T Ultra, which is a pretty basic phone. I’m not big on photography, so even though Samsung’s cameras are highly rated, I might not use them much.

That said, I’m considering the S24 Ultra mainly for its premium build and feel. I recently upgraded my laptop from Lenovo to a Samsung Galaxy Book, and I’ve really enjoyed the experience so far. From what I know, the OnePlus 8T has an OLED screen like the S24 Ultra and a slightly less powerful GPU. Do you think it’s worth making the switch just for the premium feel?

The S24 Ultra definitely has a premium vibe, similar to your Galaxy Book. If you’re not into cameras or the S Pen, you might also want to consider the S24 Plus. Plus, Samsung’s ecosystem has some nice features that could be a bonus for you.

If you’re looking for something that feels premium, then yes, go for it!

I pre-ordered the S24 for my wife since she’s really into photography, and she loves it. She takes tons of pictures every week, so we went for the 500GB version to ensure she has enough space.

As for me, I had the S23 Ultra but ended up with the S24 Ultra after cracking my screen and using insurance. Honestly, I don’t notice much difference between the two since I don’t use the camera much.

Also, the S25 is rumored to be coming soon. You might want to wait for that, but unless there are major changes, it may not feel that different from the S24.

You should visit a store and try out the phone yourself before deciding.

The display is good but not as perfect as the specs might make you think. Some people find it slightly grainy or notice that the colors can seem pale compared to other phones. The matte finish on the back may also feel less premium if you’re into glass backs. And the edges are more squared, which might take getting used to if you prefer rounded designs.

I switched from an Oppo 8 Pro to the S24 Ultra.

At first, I wasn’t impressed. It felt solid and reliable but not groundbreaking compared to my Oppo. The slower charging (compared to Oppo’s 90W fast charger) was annoying, too.

After a month of use, though, I’ve grown to really like it. The battery life is impressive, even with the setting to only charge up to 80% to preserve its lifespan. I can go two full days without needing to charge, which makes the slower charging less of an issue.

The design feels sturdy, and I’ve realized that gimmicks like curved screens don’t compare to the usability of the flat S24 Ultra display. The S Pen is great, though I don’t use it often, and the one-handed mode is super helpful for nighttime use.

Performance-wise, it’s fast and responsive. I’ve turned off animations (personal preference), and it handles everything without lag. Overall, I’d say it’s won me over. There’s no other phone I’d rather have right now.

For me, the S24 Ultra was worth it. Here’s why:

  • I got the 1TB version since I don’t use a PC and need lots of storage.
  • The Titanium Violet color looks stunning.
  • The phone feels amazing in the hand, though it’s big, so it might not be ideal for smaller hands.
  • I use a slim case when I’m out and keep it caseless at home to fully enjoy the design.
  • The S Pen is a useful tool.
  • It handles games and apps effortlessly.
  • The camera produces great photos, even if I’m not a heavy camera user.

Maybe the original poster isn’t ready for the S24 Ultra!

Jokes aside, yes, I think it’s worth it.

I got the S24 Ultra mainly because of the large screen size. But I was pleasantly surprised by how good the battery life is—it’s better than I expected.

If you can wait, the price will probably drop in a year or two. It might make you rethink the purchase.
