Is OneDrive and Google Photos the only way to save pictures now?

I just replaced my old phone that broke, and now I’ve realized I’ve lost a lot of my photos because I didn’t pay for extra OneDrive storage. Does Samsung have its own cloud service for this? Any suggestions would be great. I’m not too good with phones, so any advice helps. Thanks!

You can try Amazon Photos. It’s another option to back up your pictures.

You could set up a network-attached storage (NAS) or buy one that’s already ready to go. For example, you can get something like Synology or Asustor and add your own hard drives.

They’re pretty simple to set up and can be connected to your phone for automatic backups. You won’t have to pay monthly fees for storage, and you can save anything you like on the drive.

A lot of people use this for home media servers or personal backups. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube if you want to explore this option further.

What software or app do you use to back up from your phone to a NAS?

I use an Asustor NAS, and it comes with built-in tools for backups, so I don’t need extra apps or software. I usually do my backups manually, though.

The Asustor also has an app store where you can download additional programs if needed. Other NAS brands have similar software options for scheduling automatic backups.

Thanks for the info. I’ve set up a spare computer as a network drive for our computers, and I already back those up. It’d be great to back up my phone too. I’ll look into Asustor!

Does Samsung have its own cloud? Not really, but they do offer OneDrive integration for Galaxy phones. You could also use Google Photos or other services. Someone mentioned Proton Drive here once, but I don’t know much about it. Maybe others can share more options?

A simple option is to buy a USB-C SSD and back up your photos to that. I got two Rocket drives for this purpose and keep double backups. Works like a charm.
