Do Samsung phones usually get cheaper when a new one comes out?

I’m looking to upgrade my old phone (I’ve got an S8+ and I’m eyeing the S24+). I’m in the U.S., so getting the Snapdragon version isn’t an issue. I’ve been checking Samsung’s store and Amazon for deals, but I’m wondering—should I wait for the S25? Do they usually drop the prices on older models when a new one launches? Has anyone noticed better discounts after the new models come out compared to Black Friday deals? Let me know!

Yeah, that’s pretty much what every phone company does.

Right now, you can get the S24 Ultra 512GB for $804.99 if you use a referral discount and an education discount. Plus, I think you get $50 cashback if it’s your first time using their app (not 100% sure on that). My total with tax was around $887.

I decided to grab this deal. I’ve heard of people getting slightly better prices, but I’m happy with what I paid. For context, the S23 Ultra 512GB is about the same price as this S24 Ultra with the discount.

I’m not sure I even need 512GB, but the way it’s discounted makes it worth it. There will probably be similar sales when the S25 comes out, but Samsung won’t be selling the S24 Ultra themselves anymore because they stop production once a new line is out.

@Rey
Do you have any examples of how much the S23 was discounted when the S24 came out? I keep hearing that, but when I check Samsung’s site or Amazon, the S23 is basically the same price as the S24. No one’s really buying it at that price, though.

@Flint
I don’t have any solid examples, unfortunately. I was looking for that info myself. I’ve just noticed that the S23 Ultra is currently priced between $600 and $900, depending on the model.

My logic is this: if I’m happy with the current price of the S24 Ultra being similar to the S23 Ultra, it probably won’t drop much lower than that.

Isn’t that pretty obvious?

Not in Korea, it doesn’t.
