I have a choice to choose between a new Galaxy A55 with a one-year warranty for $400 or a used but well-maintained base Galaxy S23 for the same price. Which one would you pick and why?

As others mentioned, choose the S23. It’s a clear choice if the price is the same.

S23 unless you want a big phone in which case you might need to stretch your budget for the plus

I faced a similar situation and took a more drastic step. I bought a used S22 Ultra, and I still don’t regret it. I need a larger screen for work, and while the battery life is a downside, it’s still worth every cent compared to my friends’ iPhone 14 Pro.

The A55. More bang for your buck. Bought one for my kid brother. As long as you’re happy with some sacrifices, it’s excellent vfm.

I’d say it depends on what you currently have. If you’re coming from a flagship, stick with the flagship. I went from a Note 10+ to an A54, and the difference is noticeable. The Note had no lag, but the A54 lags quite a bit. So if you have an S series now, stick with it.
