Anyone used the A35 or A55? Any big issues, especially with battery?

I’m planning to get a Samsung A35 or A55 for my mom. I’ve never owned one, so I don’t know much about the downsides of these devices.

Has anyone had any big issues with either of these phones? I’m mostly interested in things like problems with the screen, charging ports, battery issues, or overheating.

I’ve always had S series phones. My work switched to the A55 this year. Honestly, it’s not bad after using it for 2 weeks. It’s a bit large and bulky for me, and it’s missing some of the fancier features of the flagship phones, but it has a nice screen, sounds good, has the basics, the camera is decent, and the battery is alright. Overall, it’s good value for the price.

@Oakley
Glad to hear that, thanks for the input :pray::pray:

I have the A55 and there are no issues like that.

Thanks for the input, really appreciate it :ok_hand:t2::ok_hand:t2:

The A55 is the perfect phone. There’s no competition. Not Vivo, not Xiaomi, none of them compare. It’s an amazing mid-range phone. The best.

That’s a bold claim. Mind explaining why you think it’s perfect and the best mid-range phone? Right now, you sound like a brand follower who doesn’t know much about other phones.

I’ve been using the A55 for about six months now, and it works great. I use it a lot—like 4 hours a day, including some games like Clash of Clans. It drains the battery faster when playing on high settings, but it doesn’t overheat. I charge it twice a day. I can get 24 hours of use from 100% to 0%, but I just charge it twice for peace of mind. Your mom should probably be fine with just one charge a day if she doesn’t use it too much. The first day, though, the battery might drain fast while it sets everything up, and for the first week, the battery life might not be great because it’s learning how you use the phone. But after that, it’s fine. I’ve never had any bugs or problems. The performance is great, and even when it lags, it’s for a split second and not noticeable.

@Mal
Really appreciate you taking the time to write this out, it’s super helpful, thank you :pray:

@Ty
Thanks, I expect it to perform like a mid-range device, glad to hear it doesn’t come with major issues.

I’ve had the A35 for two weeks now. No big issues, battery life is actually good. I mostly use it for messaging, social media, and YouTube, and I charge it once a day. It doesn’t heat up during regular use, only when I run memory cleaning apps like Good Guardians. There’s some lag in animations here and there, but nothing too serious.

@Haru
Thanks a lot for sharing! I can probably just turn off the animations from the developer options to avoid that issue for her.

Wait for the Galaxy A56. It has newer CPU cores. It’s got Cortex A720 and A520 cores, compared to the older A78 and A55 cores in the A55.

The price will probably be high though.

My son has the A35 since the A55 isn’t available in the US. He loves it. Great battery life. It has all the features I have on my Galaxy S. No issues.

I used to have the A52s a couple of years ago, and it was great, no issues until the end. Then I bought the A55 and no issues with that either. The A-series is really underrated, in my opinion.

Thanks a lot! I agree with you, I’ve always thought of the A-series as not worth it, but it seems like they really improved them recently.

@Kit
Yes, I was skeptical at first, but after using it, I’m sold. It works well, and it doesn’t cost as much as the S-series. I might stick with the A-series instead of the S-series.

The only bug I found is minor but kind of annoying. Sometimes when I unlock the device quickly, the screen goes black with the wallpaper, but the status bar and notification panel are still visible. So when you swipe, you accidentally touch the toggles or brightness slider. You have to lock and unlock the phone again.

@Clare
How are you triggering the notification panel with the swipe gesture? I know it’s a small issue, but as a UX designer myself, and considering how my mom uses phones, I’m curious about how this happens.
