Anyone here think Samsung S24 Ultra is better than Pixel 9 Pro?

I’m using the Samsung S21 Ultra but it’s getting glitchy. Looking to upgrade and torn between the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the S24 Ultra. I’m curious if Samsung has any clear advantages? The main thing for me is that it lasts without getting worse with updates.

It depends on what you mean by ‘better’.

Here are a couple of main factors for buyers:

  1. For performance, the S24 Ultra’s Snapdragon chip is better than Google’s Tensor.

  2. For the camera, the Pixel 9 Pro does a good job with point-and-shoot and moving objects.

There’s other stuff to think about too.

To add on a few points:

  1. If you’re used to Samsung’s extra features, Pixel’s UI might feel a bit plain.
  2. Samsung generally has an edge in durability and reliability.
  3. If you take a lot of calls, Samsung could be a better choice.

I have both.

I’d pick the Pixel 9 Pro XL for photos and the temperature sensor.

The Samsung S24 Ultra is better for everything else—customization, edge panels, gaming, S-Pen, anti-reflective screen.

I had the S21 Ultra and now have the S24 Ultra.

S21 - mine got slow and glitchy too. I tried a factory reset but it’s still slower than my old Note 9, so something’s definitely off.

S24 - no issues yet. Had it for 6 months, still smooth and fast. My only gripe is finding a screen protector that matches the anti-reflective original screen.

Samsung Perk: DeX mode. I bring a wireless mouse and small keyboard when I travel. Connecting to screens for email or web browsing anywhere is a huge plus for productivity.

A lot of it comes down to preference, but Pixel’s processor is definitely slower.

If you want a phone that can last longer, go for the S24 Ultra. Tensor’s chip doesn’t age well and will likely get even slower.

Samsung DeX mode all the way.

Does your camera only focus if you give it a little tap?

S24 Ultra all the way.

Samsung’s main edge is the Snapdragon processor, while Pixel’s main downside is the Tensor chip—which Samsung actually makes, funnily enough.

Still, Samsung’s software can sometimes make Snapdragon look less impressive compared to Pixel.

Funny you’re asking this on the Samsung forum and not on the general Android one.

Listen to yourself, you know you want the S24 Ultra.

They also posted in the Google Pixel forum too.

S24 Ultra > Pixel 9 Pro XL

I own both.

I’d say the S24 Ultra is more well-rounded.

Pixel stands out for its camera and simple Android design.

Just got the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It’s good, but honestly, it feels too plain. One UI on Samsung has a lot more options.
