I’m considering buying a Samsung Galaxy A06 and have the option between the 64 GB and 128 GB models. I realize that 64 GB might not be enough in 2024, but since you can expand the storage with a memory card, maybe it’s not a big deal.
I’m unsure if relying on a memory card is reliable or if it’s better to go for the 128 GB model instead. There might be downsides I’m unaware of, so I’m seeking advice from anyone knowledgeable. Thanks for your help!
If you can afford the 128 GB version, go for it. While 64 GB might be enough for basic use now, apps are getting larger over time. In the future, 64 GB may not be sufficient, and you’ll end up having to clear space often. It’s better to choose the 128 GB for long-term use.
Even if you’re buying this for an elderly person, it’s still better to get the 128 GB model. Phones with 64 GB can fill up quickly with photos and videos. Additionally, some phones have a feature that increases RAM by using storage, which can be more impactful on a 64 GB device. I’m not sure if this phone has that feature, but with the 128 GB model, you’ll have more flexibility depending on your usage.
If you don’t use many apps, 64 GB should be enough, but 128 GB is a better choice since you can’t really store apps on an SD card (you technically can, but it doesn’t work well).
64 GB is manageable with an expandable memory card. My previous phone, a budget Motorola with 64 GB, had no issues since I used an SD card for music and photos, and it worked well for me. Now that I’ve switched to the S24, which lacks expandable memory, the 128 GB has been fine, and I haven’t used half of it yet.
