What’s the best small Galaxy A phone out there

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a new phone as a Christmas gift for a family member. They really want something smaller, so the A55 is too big. I’ve read that the A55 is the best choice price-wise, but is there something I’m missing? Are all decent phones just too big these days? We prefer Samsung since it’s their current phone, so any advice would be awesome!

Small? Try the A40!

If you want a smaller Samsung phone, the base S model is pretty much your only option. The S24 is really solid right now. Sure, it costs more than the A55, but you get a better phone. It’s up to you how much you value the size.

@Blue
That doesn’t really answer the question, the person who posted this wanted an A SERIES phone

@Blue
The A series has its pros too. The A14 is a good option, especially if you’re looking for something smaller and budget-friendly. But I get the appeal of a smaller S model too.

I own an S24 Ultra and an A14 for work. I mentioned before this is a gift, so I’m not keen on spending £600 on an S24. The A14 is decent, but it’s about the same size as my Ultra. I want something with decent specs and the same form as the S24, but it seems like you have to go bigger for the A series.

@Jules
I’m using an A14 now, and I also have an A15, an A02s, and an S24+. The A15 is the smallest of them all! EDIT: It’s funny, but I actually find the A14 runs smoother than the A15 sometimes! I got them both around the same time, about two months after I got my S24+.

@Jules
In situations like this, maybe see if another family member wants to pitch in for the gift. It could help split the cost. Honestly, I agree that £600 is a lot to spend on a present.

If you’re looking for small Samsung phones with good specs, check out the S23 and S24. See if you can find a good condition second-hand one to lower the price.

It’s tough, but your best bet for a small Samsung phone is the base S model, like the S24 or S23. Maybe you can still find a sealed one at a decent price.

The A14 is a solid phone. The newer A15 is around $200 unlocked directly from Samsung, cheaper on Amazon or Best Buy. It’s 6.30 x 3.02 x 0.33 inches with a 6.5-inch screen, weighing about 7 ounces.

So it’s pretty much the same size as the A55?

@Jules
The A14 and A15 are good, but they don’t quite match the A55.

You should consider the S23 or maybe the S23 FE.

I checked out the FE earlier, and it’s £385 right now. It seems like the only decent option at this point.

The FE is actually pretty big…

@Ellis
I didn’t know that! I thought it was the same size as the regular S23.

Have you considered the Pixel A series? They’re not Samsung, but they do have smaller options.
