TIFU by using the eraser to buff out a scratch on my phone... Anyone know how to fix it?

I tried using an eraser to buff out a scratch on my A55 phone screen and ended up removing the oleophobic coating by mistake! Has anyone else done this before? What can I do to fix it or get that coating back?

Wait, you used an eraser on the screen? Really?

Yeah, I know… big mistake. The good news is that the oleophobic coating naturally fades over time, so I think it’ll probably even out in a few months. I’ll just grab a screen protector in the meantime.

You can actually search online for products that reapply the oleophobic coating. Might help you get it back.

I had a similar issue with an old LG phone. The coating wore off only where the buttons touched the screen, and it wasn’t a big deal. Just wait a few months, it won’t make much of a difference. If you want to check if the coating is gone, drop a bit of water on the screen. The water should bead up unless you’re at the spot where the coating’s gone.

I tried that already. I can see a weird “burn” mark on the screen where fingerprints and dust collect, but it disappears when I clean it off.
