Switching from Watch 3 to Watch 7… Need Help with Sleep Mode?

I recently upgraded from my old Watch 3 to a new Watch 7 and I’m trying to get used to the changes. One major difference is moving from Tizen OS to the newer Android system. My main issue right now is with sleep mode. I used it all the time on my old watch to keep notifications off at night, dim the screen, and also during the day when I wanted to extend battery life or redirect sound to another bluetooth device (like my motorcycle helmet speakers). The problem is, the only way I can turn on sleep mode on my Watch 7 also puts my phone in sleep mode, which makes everything black and white and turns on Do Not Disturb. I don’t want my phone to go into sleep mode too. Is there any way to put the watch to sleep without affecting my phone?

During the day, I’d suggest using theater mode instead. It might be better for what you’re trying to do. Also, sleep mode should let you separate the watch and phone settings, so hopefully you can adjust that.

Here’s a link to something I found that might help:

@Nico
Personally, I like linking the watch and phone so when I need things to be silent, both go silent at the same time. It works for me.

I saw Theater mode but wasn’t sure what it did exactly. I’ll check that out. But when you mention sleep mode should have an option to decouple, are you saying I should be able to find that option, or that Samsung should add it? And if I use Theater mode, will it stop my watch from connecting to Bluetooth? I’ve had issues with calls going to my watch while I’m riding and not to my helmet speakers, which is a huge problem.

@Erie
About Theater mode – it doesn’t even affect the sleep mode for me, so that shouldn’t be an issue. If you want the audio to go to your helmet and not your watch, just go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings and uncheck the calls option for the watch. That should help. As for sleep mode, I remember that back in the GW5 days, there was a way to make sure the phone didn’t go into sleep mode with the watch, but I’m not sure if it’s still available. EDIT: Someone else found the option and posted a screenshot, so you might want to check that out!

You can turn off syncing between the watch and phone. You can also stop your phone from going grayscale. Just go to Wear app > watch settings > modes > turn off sync modes.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll try that out.
