Is playing Minecraft PE gonna kill my battery?

I hope this isn’t a common question. I just got my S24 Ultra and downloaded Minecraft Pocket Edition since it’s my only way to play. Will it hurt my battery if I play for 1-2 hours daily on public transit? I plan to keep this phone for about three years. Thanks for any help!

If you notice your battery getting worse, just take it to a Samsung service center and get a new battery. I did that with my S9+ and it worked for another two years. Just because the battery fades doesn’t mean the phone is done.

@Casey
Yeah but they might charge around 150-250 euros.

Replacing the battery on my S9+ was only about 60 euros at an authorized center. The S24 Ultra may cost more, but it’s cheaper than a new phone.

Still way cheaper than getting a brand new phone, which is your only other choice.

@Casey
That’s why I never stress about battery health. Battery replacements are affordable and easy, so if it gets bad, just get a new one.

@Casey
Do they replace the stylus?

Grab a power bank with at least a 45W USB-C port that supports PPS and turn on PD battery pass-through in the game booster on your phone. That way, your battery won’t drain while gaming.

I don’t think 45W is really needed.

@Skylar
Yeah, 25W or higher should work fine.

@Skylar
Oh, that’s great then.

Playing Minecraft PE might drain your battery by about 10-20%. So you’ll have around 80% left for the rest of the day. If you run out of battery too fast, you’ll just need to charge more often. Phones can be charged a set number of times and should last a few years. The S24 Ultra can handle around 500 charges and still keep at least 80% battery health. If you take care of it by fully charging and fully draining, it’ll last over three years even with heavy use. Also, enabling battery health settings could extend the life by another year or so. To really ruin your battery, avoid charging while using it or always use fast charging.

@Alden
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

@Alden
You can use your phone while charging with no problems. It’s a myth that it damages the battery if you use it while charging, especially during normal use. When gaming, turning on the pass-through feature can help, so the phone uses power from the charger instead of the battery.

@Phoenix
I didn’t realize Samsung had battery pass-through. I thought that was only for gaming phones like the ROG series.

Yes, it’s in Gaming Hub under Game Booster. Just scroll down a bit to find it.

@Alden
That’s not good advice. For the best battery health, keep the charge between 50-70%. When charging, try not to let it hit 100%, and don’t let it drop below 20%. Fully draining the battery every time will definitely shorten its lifespan.

@Alden
New features now show battery health in settings, along with temperature.

@Alden
No, don’t let it fully drain! Batteries degrade when they drop below 20% or go above 80%. Keeping it around 60-80% is best for health.

What’s the point of saving battery if it limits what your phone can do? A 20% charge is still a lot. I agree about not letting it drop below 20% though.
