Having battery issues on your Z Flip 6… could it be something simple?

I thought my Z Flip 6 battery was bad until I tried some different settings and did some research. Now, my phone lasts way longer. I’m sharing my tips for anyone who might be struggling too.

Your phone goes into a state called sleep or deep sleep when the screen is off for a bit. In this state, the battery should drain really slowly. This mode is supposed to save battery life by using only what it needs.

But some apps can wake up the phone for little tasks, like getting notifications or syncing. These wake-ups are brief, and the phone should go back to sleep quickly. However, apps that do more, like playing music or videos, can keep the phone awake until they’re done. This constant wakefulness can drain your battery fast.

If your phone is losing battery quickly, it could be due to something waking it up too often or holding it awake.

Using battery tracking apps, like Accubattery, can help you see how much time your phone spends in deep sleep. Your phone should ideally be in deep sleep over 50% of the time when the screen is off. If not, something is running in the background and draining your battery. It might be hard to figure out which app is causing the problem since many apps can use tiny amounts of battery that add up.

You can check your device care settings, look at battery usage, and see which apps were used recently. By checking the details for each app, you can find useful info like how often they wake the phone up or keep it awake.

If you find an app using a lot of resources, you can limit its background usage. Setting it to sleep or deep sleep will help it not run in the background when you’re not using it. Running tests on apps can help you find which ones are causing wake-ups, and once you figure it out, your battery life should improve significantly. I went from 12 hours max to about 18-24 hours!

P.S. Google Play Services will have many wake-ups since it’s necessary for Android to run smoothly. It helps apps communicate with each other, and disabling it can cause issues. Just see it as a total of how many times the phone has been woken up.

Samsung puts some apps in deep sleep by disabling them, which might require you to log in again. If that happens, go into App info > Battery and select Restricted. This way, the app can run one background job a day without logging you out.

Good point… thanks for sharing!

Great tips, thanks for sharing… really helps us out!

Thanks for the info… really appreciate it!

Thanks for breaking it down so clearly… much appreciated!

Good info here… another idea is to stop all non-essential apps from running in the background. You can adjust as needed if things don’t work right.

In short:
To make your Z Flip 6 battery last longer, focus on stopping apps that wake it from deep sleep when the screen is off. Too many wake-ups or wake locks keep the battery from saving power. Using tools like Accubattery can help find which apps are waking your phone up. Check app usage in settings and limit background activity to help save battery life, just like the person who posted this shared.

Thanks for the… actually pretty good summary, wow!

Pro tip: if you find yourself writing long posts like this, you can use an AI tool to help shorten it for you.

I found Google Play Services draining my battery since I got my Galaxy Watch 6. It used 21% yesterday and had almost 5 hours of wake-locks!

That might not be Google Play Services itself but another app that keeps it running. Take another look… could it be anything related to your watch?

@Jaime
Honestly, I have no idea what the issue is or how to find it!

Check if there’s an app using a lot of wake-ups or wake locks… I explained how to do this in the post.

Thanks for sharing… this is really helpful!

Google Play Services has caused a lot of standby drain on my Samsung devices too. I’ve helped others fix this after they tried rebooting several times. Sometimes after updates, it can drain way more battery than normal, like going from 3% to 20%. Look for Google Play Services in settings, stop it, delete data, and uninstall updates. After rebooting, check again. You can update it later, and it should work fine. Also, letting third-party apps run in the background, like Accubattery or live wallpapers, will keep your phone from going into deep sleep.
