My dad has a Galaxy S24+ and I’m trying to get notifications to pop up on his Lock Screen like they do on iPhones. I tried using Glimpse, but it’s not working properly to show every message. He’s using Google Messages.
What phone model is he using? The settings can change depending on the phone.
Try this:
- Check the Notification pop-up style.
- Look for an option like ‘Show as Brief’ for specific apps.
I’ve never seen it work like that. Do you have an example so I can try to figure it out?

@Keller
I’m not sure. You could try getting an app that mimics the old notification LED from older Samsung phones.
@Keller
If you mean lighting up the screen for notifications, edge lighting might help. It won’t fully wake the screen, though.

We have that set up, but is there a way to make it brighter?
@Keller
You can try downloading Good Lock from the Galaxy Store. It’s an official Samsung app and lets you customize edge lighting and other features.

I’ll give it a shot, thanks!
@Keller
I don’t think so. They really should let the screen fully wake up if you want it to.

Yeah, that would’ve been nice. Thanks for the tips anyway
@Keller
I remember my old LG phone doing that years ago without any hassle.
The closest solution might be enabling lock screen notifications and turning on Always On Display.

We tried that, but the notifications are so dim that he won’t notice them. Most of the time he keeps vibrations and sound off.
I’ve been using Glimpse on my last three phones, and it works perfectly for me. It’s the closest thing to iOS I’ve found. No idea why Samsung doesn’t make this a built-in feature.

I’ll try setting it up again tomorrow. Thanks!
I had a weird issue on my S24 Ultra where notifications wouldn’t show on the Lock Screen no matter what. Changing the wallpaper fixed it, and now I see the actual messages instead of just the icons. Never had this issue with my S20.
Have you looked into the accessibility settings? They might have something useful for this.
Here’s what I do to make sure I don’t miss notifications on my Galaxy S22 Ultra:
- Go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Floating Notifications and pick the view you like. Add the apps you want to include.
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style. Pick the style you prefer and the apps you want it for. Enable ‘Show while screen off.’
Hope that helps.
You could try using lift to wake and enabling notifications on the Lock Screen. Another idea is using the flashlight as a visual notification.
